Miss Southlake Scholarship Organization

The Miss Southlake Scholarship Organization is an all volunteer, 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.  Our mission is to provide cash and educational scholarships to young women based on achievement in the areas of academics, community service, public speaking, and the performing arts.  We serve as an official local preliminary to the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant and the Miss America Competition.  The Miss America Organization is the largest provider of scholarships to young women in the world and has served as a launching pad for careers for young women in a variety of areas including TV, film, broadcasting, the music industry, medicine, law,

and many more.  

Julie Wells Koenig - Executive Director

Julie Wells Koenig has been involved with the Miss America Organization since 1998 and held three local titles in North Carolina from 1998-2000. As a local titleholder in North Carolina, she was a Top Ten Finalist in 1999 and a Non-Finalist Talent Winner in 2000. She continued to serve the Miss North Carolina Organization as a judge on the local level from 2005-2013 and was a local Executive Director from 2010-2013. Julie was the Executive Director of the Miss Dallas/Park Cities Organization from 2014-2017. She has an extensive background in competitive dance and gymnastics. After college, Julie danced professionally in the NBA as a member of the Charlotte Hornets’ Honeybees and New Jersey Nets Power n’ Motion Dance Team. She also appeared as a New York Knicks dancer in the Walt Disney film “Eddie”, starring Whoopi Goldberg. A former member of Screen Actors Guild, Julie appeared in numerous television shows on NBC including “Ed”, “Third Watch”, and “Law & Order SVU”. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master of Physical Therapy degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Julie is currently employed as a Pediatric Physical Therapist for Our Children’s House at Children’s in Dallas, TX. She currently lives in Southlake, TX with her husband, Guy, and their two young children.
